New driving Test from October 1st 2010

The new driving test will be introduced from the 1st October 2010. Dont be alarmed its no harder than the existing driving test.  Everything that we teach now is the equivalent to the new driving test.

The test will now consist of :

• The eye sight check before you start

• The 2 Show and Tell questions

• A drive lasting approximately 40 to 45 minutes.

• A single reversing manouver 1 of the 4 taught.

• May be a controlled stop.

• The exciting new 10 minute independant drive.

Dont worry the Superdrive students are already given the skills to be able to drive on their own as part of the training.   Its down to you the student to drive using all the hazard routines and MSPSL routines that you are taught. It also tests your awareness to plan any changes of lanes yourself instead of   being prompted by the examiner. Just like you would once you have a licence of your own. You will only be given 1 of the 4 methods below.

For the test it will be broken down in to either:

Method 1- Signs

You will be given the instruction to follow some road signs that are clearly indicated on the road.

or

Method 2 - Split signs

A split follow of road signs eg follow the signs for the A24 to Horsham and then follow the signs to The town center.

or

Method 3-  verbal

you will be shown a simplified version of a route on a peice of paper bit like a map.  You then will have to take the route indicated.  This will be done at least twice to make you do the 10 minutes drive.

or

Method 4 - combination

A combination of following signs and the folllowing of the verbal map.  

So as you can see not that difficult.  its what we have already been teaching at Superdrive for the last couple of years. If you start to go wrong on the route the examiner will prompt you to get back on course.
